Last year, I remember getting ready for burningman seemed easy. Braced for those final frantic and exhausted hours before hitting the road, instead I found that we were done before we knew it, going, "...that's it?"

"We've got this shit DOWN," I thought.

This year, I figured it'd be a breeze. Just get into our normal groove, and be on the road in no time. Well, I won't say I'm frantic, but it's not a breeze either.

Funny how much expectations can change a thing.

Our theme camp, Luna Sanctum, will be at 9:00 and Boreal this year. We are not inside of the plaza this year, rather right next to it on Boreal. (See map.) The project is going to be the same one we did last year, so if you saw us last year you should be able to spot us pretty easily. If you didn't, well, that's what pictures are for!

Our camp makes a great place to chill out or stop and rest from your travels anytime. But if you are actually interested in seeing us, early evening just before or after dusk is the best time to find us.

I've been thinking that I want a word similar to "crafter" or "crafting" but that refers to burningman type projects and the people who work on them.

"Crafting" makes one think of yarn and glue sticks. I want a word or term that makes one think of rivets and leather. A word that encompasses heavy duty projects completed at the highest caliber, with industrial strength materials, for purposes that are nothing short of ridiculous. Things that are sharp and dangerous and adult, but just for fun. Projects executed by a craftsmen of the highest level of skill, nodding and pointing and gesturing seriously, wearing a neon green fur bikini.

There was a tee shirt someone was wearing at once that said, "Fucking Trance". I think that conveys the attitude I'm going for, although I think "Fucking Crafters" sounds more an implicit, "Those goddamned, fucking crafters" than "We aren't crafters, we're Fucking Crafters".

I'm working on a burningman etiquette guide. What are your biggest burningman pet peeves?

1. I am pleased to report, burningman has NOT jumped the shark. In fact, this was the best year yet for me. I haven't been this invigorated in a long time.

2. I'm also pleased to report that though I spent a mere week preparing this year, I've got things down now so that that was enough to be both fully prepared and have lots of fun.

Well, to that end I present the The Burningman Sane Navigation Project. (Ok, so the name is probably a bit much for a page that is naught but a collection of links.)

The goal is not to list every page on the site - just the ones that people are most likely to be looking for. Let me know if you think something should be added.

I'll probably be prettifying it at some point, and then announcing it to a larger audience. But I wanted to get your feedback first.

It's a day time picture, and our project was really designed for night time viewing, so it doesn't really show it in its full glory. (Or really much glory at all.) But still - whoo!
